Blake Griffin Announces Retirement from NBA

Former All-Star Forward Ends 13-Year Career

Boston Celtics Veteran Calls it Quits

Blake Griffin, a former high-scoring power forward, has officially retired from the NBA after 13 seasons. The 34-year-old announced his decision on social media, thanking his family, coaches, teammates, and fans for their support throughout his career.

Griffin, who was known for his explosive dunks and powerful drives to the basket, entered the league as the No. 1 overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2009. He averaged over 20 points and 10 rebounds per game in his first six seasons with the Clippers, earning six All-Star selections and three All-NBA First Team honors.

After leaving the Clippers in 2018, Griffin played for the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics. However, injuries and a decline in production limited his impact in recent years. He last played in the NBA during the 2022-23 season with the Celtics.

Despite being a free agent throughout the 2023-24 season, Griffin never officially signed with another team. The former Rookie of the Year is now expected to pursue other interests outside of basketball.
